My Family’s 5 Favorite Spring Picnic Spots in Charleston

filed in

I used to think that Fall was my favorite season, until I moved to Charleston. There is something about Spring in Charleston that feels like a deep breath of fresh air. I’m constantly reminded to slow down and enjoy the little things: the blooms that cover the city, the shade from a gorgeous Oak tree draped in Spanish moss, the smell of the salt air in the breeze. One of my family’s favorite ways to slow down and enjoy time together is with picnics. Charleston has some of the best places to lay a blanket out and relax!

White Point Gardens
When we picnic at White Point Gardens, we always enjoy a little stroll afterwards amongst the beautiful streets downtown to take in all of its beauty. This park usually has a lovely little breeze to help keep cool on those warmer days.

Charlestowne Landing
Great for a little picnic and a bike ride! This park offers some gorgeous picnic spots, educational experiences, and there’s even a little animal area you can visit which is much like a mini zoo.

Daniel Island
Daniel Island Waterfront Park has quickly become one of our favorite picnic spots. Pack a lunch and a swimsuit because it offers large picnic tables, a playground to run around, and water fountains to play in. There’s also a fun dock and beautiful walking trails to explore.

Botany Bay
Although it is a little drive to get here, it’s always worth it! The beach is covered in wonderful driftwood trees, seashells, and some fun teepees. My children love to eat and explore this fun place.

Pitt Street Bridge
Pitt Street Bridge is the perfect little strip of land lined with beautiful palm trees. This is our favorite spot to catch one of Charleston’s breathtaking sunsets. Peek this spot below:

and a bonus one, Hampton Park!
Hampton Park is beautiful year round. It always has something blooming. There are picnic tables, walking trails, and geese so – don’t forget to pack a little bit of bird seed to share with the wildlife!
